Gray – breasted Martin, Progne chalybea.- By far Ecuador?s most common martin, widespread in semiopen and open areas especially around towns and other inhabited areas, mainly in lowlands; most numerous in southwest.

In Loja is possible to see it in the city and the surroundings.

Steely blue above, glossier in males; belly white, sometimes with a little dusky streaking. Tail fairly long and forked. Sexes nearly alike.

Habits:

rnrn

A conspicuous swallow, perching on wires and buildings and often nesting in colonies, under eaves (where these are not available, in dead snags). Roosts can be very large during the nonbreeding season. Regularly flies well above ground. Gray – breasted Martin, Progne chalybea.
