WHERE TO EAT IN LOJA

TRADITIONAL DISHES OF THE CITY OF LOJA

Besides birding in the south of Loja; the city offers a variety of exquisite and traditional meals which we briefly describe. This is just a short guide of what we recomend to test of our traditional meals of the city of Loja.
SOPA DE ARVEJA CON GUINEO, ( PEAS SOUP): for lunch:
 
CECINA: PORK MEAT WITH YUCA; You should ask for medium or large plate.
 
IN THE MORNINGS FOR THE BREAKFAST OR IN THE AFTERNOON:
TAMALES OR HUMITAS Which are served with a cup cofFee.
LOJAN TAMALE
TAMALES: They are made of dried yellow milled corn, and slices of pork meat; wrapped in Achira leaves. Tamales are usually served for breakfast or with the afternoon coffee.
 
 
HUMITAS: They are made of fresh milled corn with lump chees; wrapped in corn leaves. Served for breakfast or with the afternoon coffee.
 
 

There are in some places in loja, little artesanal business where you can see  this king of large pots called (ollas tamaleras), well here they are cooked, tamales and humitas. Good places to taste these delicious meals.

 
 
CUY OR GUINEA PIG
Another traditional specialty from Loja is cuy or guinea pig. You find it in the Square of El Valle. There are several restaurants in this area. Cuy is served with potatoe and other complements.
