Jocotoco Antpitta

Jocotoco Antpitta portrait

The Jocotoco Antpitta is an endemic bird from southern Ecuador and is considered a symbol of the country. Its large size and distinctive coloration make this species unique. The Jocotoco Antpitta inhabits the dense cloud forests of southern Ecuador at an altitude of around 2,600 meters.

Illustration by Pablo Andrade: This species inspired me to bring it to life on canvas.

The portrait depicts the bird in its natural habitat, surrounded by thick vegetation composed of bamboo. After weeks of meticulous work, I have created this artistic piece for nature and bird lovers, inviting them to visit southern Ecuador to see this remarkable bird and many others. Additionally, I have made this illustration and many others available for purchase.

Don’t forget about the year-round trips we offer, providing the opportunity to explore diverse habitats and observe hundreds of bird species.
