The Blue-throated Hillstar (Oreothrochilus cyanolaemus) was discovered in 2017 in Southern Ecuador by Francisco Sornoza in the province of Loja in the paramos of Cerro de Arcos. El Colibri de Arcos painted in oil on canvas perched on the Flor de Chuquirahua (Chuquiraga jussieui).
