Birding Trip Ecuador 2022 Exploraves

This is just a brief summary of this trip that started in Quito picking up the passengers at the Whydam Hotel at 5h30 and then to Yanacocha Reserve where our guide Patrico with our driver started this amazing experience at the highlands of Yanacocha Reserve. On nov 16th the trip continued towards Sacha Lodge by flying 45 minutes to Coca, town of Puerto Francisco de Orellana, where our local guide met the group and taken to the town docks. Here a coverd motorized  canoe took the people on a journeys of 2 1/2 hour, 50 mile(80 kilometer) trip down the sediment – rich waters of the Napo, the largest river in Ecuadorian Amazonia. During the ride spoted handsome shorebirds such as herons, kingfishers, spoonbills ans ospreys. After a 4 days of staying in Sacha the group flew back to Quito, and then the next day they took a flight to Loja to the Catamayo airport where will continue our trip visiting the most important private reserves, lodges and ecosistems in southern Ecuador. Here in soutthern I met the group for this fantastic bird experience.
Among the hundreds of birds we saw are some of the most remarkables such as the Harpy Eagle, Black & White Hawk-eagle, Slender-footed Tyrannulet, Zigzag Heron, Chestnut-bellied (Agami) Heron, Red-bellied Macaw, Chestnut-fronted Macaw, Crested Owl, Black-and white Owl, Andean cock-of-the-rock, Silvered Antbird, Esmeraldas Antbird,  Plum throated Cotinga. Double-toothed Kite, Jocotoco Antpitta; Long-wattled Umbrellabird, Amazonian Umbrellabird, El Oro Parakeet; Horned Screamer, Coppery-chested Jacamar, Black-streaked Puffbird,

Testimonial birding Tour 2023
Here’s a brief testimonial about you and our tour:
“We had a very good tour with Pablo (Andrade). He was extremely knowledgeable about where to find the “good” birds, and he knew the various species by sound-song, and calls. Pablo could spot birds with a facility we didn’t have, plus he had a laser pointer to show us where any specific bird was, often in the thick bushes or higher up in tall trees. It was uncanny.
Our tour was very well organized, to Sacha Lodge, Yanacocha, and three wonderful locations in southern Ecuador: Tapichalaca (great sighting of the Jocotoco antpitta, “Panchito”), Copalinga on the eastern Andean slope, and Buenaventura in the west, where we got to see the endemic and endangered El Oro Parakeet very well.
If you’re looking to see a lot of species in the south of Ecuador, we can recommend Pablo.”
