Ecuador – Exploraves / ExplorBirds – Aratinga Aventuras Cia. Ltda. is an Ecuador-based tour operator specializing in birding tours across the entire country. We operate in all four regions: the Pacific Coast, Highlands, Amazon Basin, and Galapagos Islands.

Starting from the north of the country, you’ll experience a spectacular succession of breathtaking landscapes, important national parks, and private reserves. In just a matter of hours, we can go from spotting high-altitude species on snow-capped volcanoes, to exploring the dry forests of the lowlands, and finally to the endless tropical forests of the Amazon Basin. 

Continuing toward the southwest, we encounter the incredible birdlife of the Mangrove Forests on the Coast in Santa Rosa Province visiting the Arenillas Reserve, Puerto de Jambeli, laguna la Tembladera (Horned Screamer), Hualtaco, Chacras.

Further south, in the provinces of Azuay, El Oro, Loja, and Zamora Chinchipe, we visit remarkable sites such as Podocarpus National Park, Copalinga Reserve, the remote forests of Paquisha and Cerro de Arcos, and the Nangaritza River, home to some of the richest biodiversity of plants and animals in the region.

In Saraguro, at Acacana Mountain, we can find several important bird species such as the Red-faced Parrot, Crescent-faced Antpitta, and—if we are lucky—the Chestnut-bellied Cotinga, one of the most elusive birds in recent years.
